Hotel Metropole, Monte-Carlo, Monaco
The five-star Hotel Metropole, located in the heart of Monte-Carlo, reopened in 2004 following a complete refurbishment.
In December 2007, the hotel was named the Best Hotel in Europe with 100 or more rooms.
The Metropole lies just off the Place du Casino, close to Nice International Airport and within walking distance of Monaco’s main railway station.
The hotel is also close to the old town, the Japanese gardens, the Oceanographic Museum, the Grimaldi Forum Congress Centre and the Prince’s Palace.
Built in the Belle Époque style on land that had once belonged to Pope Leon XIII, the hotel was purchased by the Monte-Carlo Hotel Company in 1886. The renovation work was designed to be mindful of this legacy while offering contemporary concepts.
The hotel has 146 rooms, including two presidential suites. The rooms feature air-conditioning, soundproofing, a mini bar, an extensive choice of TV channels, personal safe and Wi-Fi internet access.
Dining options include an extensive room service selection and the Michelin-starred Joël Robuchon Monte-Carlo. The hotel’s new spa also hosts a restaurant, offering a variety of healthy meals.
The 1,000m² Metropole ESPA Monte-Carlo spa has ten treatment rooms and VIP suites offering a variety of personalised consultations and treatments, along with a sauna, steam bath, 80m² fitness centre and outdoor heated seawater swimming pool and a private teak sundeck.
The hotel offers a variety of activities such as cooking, sport and art. Child programmes are also available.
Business guests are provided by conference and committee rooms– many of which maximise natural daylight – along with the usual array of audiovisual equipment, internet access, business machines, secretarial and catering services.
There is a total of six conference and banqueting rooms, including the Salon Edouard VII, which enjoys commanding views over the Casino gardens and the Mediterranean Sea, and can be divided into two separate areas capable of accommodating up to 250. In addition, a separate private villa with meeting rooms is available.
During the autumn of 2000 the hotel showcased its seasonal Green Attitude project, showcasing environmental protection initiatives such as an employee ‘Environmental Charter’ and the establishment of a ‘Green Committee’ to oversee recycling, energy and water use and purchasing policy.
